Welcome to Great Houghton School where the children are at the heart of our community. The school was founded in 1955 and caters for pupils from the ages of 9 months to 13 years but will be extending to Year 11 with the first Year 9 in September 2011. It is located at Great Houghton Hall, a Georgian property set in 26 acres of land on the outskirts of Northampton.
The school consists of a Nursery department for 74 pupils and a two form entry from Reception to Year 8 where we maintain an adult: pupil ratio of 1:8 within the Early Years. Class sizes within the Prep school are small ensuring that all pupils are able to reach their maximum potential .There are currently 302 pupils on roll.
The school offers a very broad, inclusive approach to education with specialist expertise. Our emphasis is on the development of the whole child and we therefore offer a creative and stimulating curriculum. We hope that when pupils move on to their next school they are confident about their own abilities and have developed a thirst for knowledge. As practitioners we believe that it is our role to work with the children and alongside their parents to develop this knowledge and understanding whilst also emphasising the importance of providing them with the opportunity to develop their talent in areas outside of the normal confines of the curriculum.
We would recommend that you make an appointment to visit the school so that you have the opportunity to experience a thriving and happy school.
